Irondale Library Launches Fundraising Campaign

July 1, 2011 marked the 60th anniversary of Irondale Public Library.

Over the years IPL has strived to benefit the community by fostering literacy and providing free access to information.

In recognition of this Diamond Anniversary the library board has begun a year long fundraising campaign to supplement the library's tightening budget.

As part of the campaign, members of our community are asked to donate $1 for each year Irondale Public Library has been in existence. Of course, we will gladly accept donations in any amount. Donations will go toward new materials. Our goal is $5,000.

Thank you for your support!

Ways to donate:

Online: Visit http://www.irondalelibrary.com/ and click the yellow "Donate" button.

By Mail: Checks made out to Irondale Public Library may be mailed to

105 20th St. S.

Irondale, AL 35210

In Person: Drop by, we would love to see you.

Gifts of $60 or more will be recognized with a bookplate placed in a new book. Donors may choose to dedicate their donations in honor or in memory of someone.

Summer Reading Highlights

We've had a great summer at IPL. Lots of kids and lots of fun at our Summer Reading events. The themes this year are One World, Many Stories and You Are Here.

Kids and parents got to experience treats and entertainments from all over the world.

Some of the highlights include Candy Sushi, Henna Tattoos, African art and dance, martial arts demonstrations and animals from around the world.

Devyani Dance Company demonstrates traditional dance from India, Spain, Turkey, Morocco and the Middle East.

Kids learning the rhymes of Taiko-Japanese Drums.
Our Summer Reading Finale Party featured crafts, snacks and prizes. Families enjoyed face painting, mosaics, paper flower crafts and more!
One lucky patron won a green bike donated by Regions Bank. Thank you, Regions Bank!

Our lucky Summer Reading friend got to take this home, but not before we took it for a test drive!

* Do Not attempt. This is a professional in a closed library.*

There is still time to claim your summer reading prizes! Bring in your Reading Logs anytime before July 31st.
