Book Club Wrap-Up - Women of True Grit

We were so lucky to have author Tina Savas attend and speak at our book discussion of her book Women of True Grit!

About Tina Savas (taken from http://www.womenoftruegrit.com/):

Tina V. Savas is among the first wave of women entrepreneurs in Birmingham, Alabama. In 1983, she founded the Birmingham Business Journal newspaper, followed by Alabama Health News, Alabama Construction News, and Birmingham Weekly. She also created the “Top Birmingham Women” award, naming ten women each year who personify the highest echelons in the community.

Book Summary:

Women of True Grit relates the stories and secrets of women who attained the pinnacles of success in their various fields. These 40 first-person narratives put the spotlight on women who reached the top despite adversity and great personal suffering. Many were the first in their fields, compounding their challenges. In their own words, these women share insights about how they were challenged, what inspired them, what sacrifices they made, and what drove them to become successful. We had a wonderful meeting - it was so great to hear some of the back stories behind the book. Tina was so friendly and funny - she didn't even care that the tornado sirens tried to drown her out several times throughout the meeting! Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out and brave the weather.
